Eric Newby Obituary

Eric Ashton Newby entered this world on June 27, 1934, and departed it on February 13, 2024, just four months short of his 90th birthday. His place of birth was St. Anne, Jamaica, West Indies.

As a boy, he ran like the wind, and swam like a fish, and like a bird, flitted amongst the top of most branches of trees. In the language of the day, we would say that he was autistic. He had the sweetest smile and the most melodious whistle. Hed was pained by the idea of suffering of any kind. And he could sweet talk you out of your most treasured possession.

Mas Eric, as he was want to be called, will live on in the lives of his gracious lovely children and grandchildren. His wife, Philliceta, son Everton, and brother Carl, known as Vin, preceded him in death.

Surviving him are:

Sons: Lloyd Brenton, Oneil Ashton (wife Edith)

Brothers: Leeford, and Owen also known as Jimmy (wife Andrea).

Sister: Phyllis, a missionary in Haiti.

Grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and a host of relatives and friends.:
